Legal Work Opportunities
CounselKin may discuss four kinds of collaboration with licensed U.S. attorneys. Availability depends on actual needs, so each opportunity is discussed individually. Nothing here describes a current open role or an existing client pipeline.
What collaboration can look like
Contract Legal Assignments
When suitable projects are available, discuss legal research, drafting, contract review, and document review. Scope, deadlines, supervision, and compensation are agreed before work begins.
Co-Counsel Relationships
Explore collaboration on matters requiring complementary expertise or jurisdictional coverage, with role allocation and applicable client approvals.
Attorney-to-Attorney Referrals
Discuss appropriate client referrals based on practice area, location and capacity, subject to applicable conduct rules.
Ongoing Professional Relationships
Build longer-term professional connections that may support appropriate future matters; no expectation of guaranteed work.
Work that may be discussed
Where available and suitable for your experience and jurisdiction:
- Business contract drafting and agreement review
- Legal research and memoranda
- Document review and defined legal support projects
- Suitable co-counsel matters and attorney-to-attorney referrals
Opportunities depend on availability, suitability, applicable professional rules, and individual agreements. No assignments, work volume, or earnings are guaranteed.
How compensation is determined
Compensation is discussed before a specific engagement is accepted. Depending on the nature of the work and applicable rules, an agreement may use an hourly rate, fixed project fee, or another professionally permissible arrangement. No amount, number of matters, or payment is guaranteed by applying.
| Model | Typically used for |
|---|---|
| Agreed hourly rate | Open-ended research, review, or support work |
| Fixed project fee | Well-defined drafting or review projects |
| Case-specific arrangement | Co-counsel matters, agreed matter by matter |
| Professionally permissible fee division | Matters handled by lawyers in different firms, where the applicable rules and client consent allow |
Opportunities depend on availability, suitability, applicable professional rules, and individual agreements. No assignments, work volume, or earnings are guaranteed.
